While planning our upcoming trip to Disneyland, I imagined the following conversation happening again and again while in line for It’s a Small World, while waiting for a parade, and throughout our trip:
Random Disneyland Guest: “Why is your daughter wearing that thing? Is your daughter allergic to the sun?”
Us: “It protects her from UV rays of the sun. She’s not really allergic, it’s a rare condition called XP.”
Random Disneyland Guest: “What is that? I’ve never heard of it before?”
Us: (For the thousandth time) “Well, It’s called xeroderma pigmentosum, and it means that her DNA…..”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to explain XP to interested people. I really want people to be aware of it – it’s the whole purpose of this blog. But sometimes, instead of answering all of the details, maybe I’d rather be just enjoying the time with Anna and her mom in Disneyland.
So it got me thinking – I should have a little something to hand to people to direct them to this website! The FAQ answers a lot of common questions, and there are links to great resources about XP. So, being cheap, I visited VistaPrint.com and for under $10, I now have 250 of these little beauties:
I almost look forward to people asking about Anna. I can give them this card, tell them they can learn all about it on this blog, and thank them for their concern and interest. Let’s see how many I come back with!
I love your cards! These will be great to hand out.
